The Listening
Post is a very viable project, one that has a proven positive impact.
One of the unique aspects of the Post is that one can be started
and maintained by volunteers in your own community. Good Listeners
come from all walks of life—One does not need to have a college
education or a psychology degree, but compassion and perception
are needed.
The Listening
Post material is copyrighted. Therefore, when you plan on setting
up a Post, our policy requires that the full program and its continuing
service be purchased. Six basic tasks are explained in full detail.
These tasks are essential to a successful experience.
Full resources
are available to public and private K-12 schools, colleges and universities
as well as to corporations, hospitals, nursing facilities and other
‘people places’. Materials are detailed, enabling the
specific organization to establish a Listening Post smoothly and
effectively.
The materials
and continuing service are sold as a total program and include:
· An
80-page instructional handbook (with practical methodology, basic
communication principles, helpful hints, etc.)
· One essential two-hour training film led by experienced
Listeners
· A resource packet with articles and information relevant
to starting and maintaining a Post
· One welcoming sign, "A PLACE TO TALK", (easel
attached)
· A six-foot long red and white checkered table cover
We
therefore, have a sliding scale. If an organization is somewhat
affluent, we would hope they would pay $500 for the materials. If
that amount is difficult, we would hope $400, $300, $200 or even
$100 would be possible. However, if the school or organization is
struggling to maintain itself and is unable to pay even $100, please
call and we will negotiate.
