How to start your own Post...

The Listening Post is a very viable project, one that has a proven positive impact. One of the unique aspects of the Post is that one can be started and maintained by volunteers in your own community. Good Listeners come from all walks of life—One does not need to have a college education or a psychology degree, but compassion and perception are needed.

The Listening Post material is copyrighted. Therefore, when you plan on setting up a Post, our policy requires that the full program and its continuing service be purchased. Six basic tasks are explained in full detail. These tasks are essential to a successful experience.

Full resources are available to public and private K-12 schools, colleges and universities as well as to corporations, hospitals, nursing facilities and other ‘people places’. Materials are detailed, enabling the specific organization to establish a Listening Post smoothly and effectively.

The materials and continuing service are sold as a total program and include:

· An 80-page instructional handbook (with practical methodology, basic communication principles, helpful hints, etc.)
· One essential two-hour training film led by experienced Listeners
· A resource packet with articles and information relevant to starting and maintaining a Post
· One welcoming sign, "A PLACE TO TALK", (easel attached)
· A six-foot long red and white checkered table cover

And

· One day of training in Denver with five experienced trainers. This training day is optional and entirely free (the participants are responsible for travel expenses)

*We want every interested organization to have The Listening Post program, so if funding is difficult for you, please call us to discuss possible options.
